What is a “Quarter Bound” Binding?
Quarter Binding or “One” Quarter Binding is where the spine is covered in one material (i.e. cloth) while the sides with another material (i.e. paper). The proportion of spine material to side material is approximately 1:3. The corners are not covered in a quarter binding.
This example above uses a Red Rainbow Paper front and back sections with a Black C Grade book cloth for the “quarter” spine section.
We took one of our Pre- made Journal Blanks with fancy Kraft paper, (vertical lines ) and cased in to the quarter bound case we had produced. We added an expandable inside back pocket using diagonal lined printed kraft and the same Black C grade Book cloth for the expandable side pieces.
Finished off with our standard 3/8″ black elastic closure.
I’ve always like the Quarter Bound Binding style for a journal like this. Serious and understated on the outside, with a touch modern artsiness on the end sheets. 160 blank pages 5.75 x 8.5″ on 70 lb Natural Rolland Recycled. Design your own for $24.95 + shipping. Click Here!
